Ivey Hayes (A Short Bio)

Known for his paintings in bright colors of African-American figures, Ivey Hayes is from North Carolina where he received his BA degree from North Carolina Central University and in 1975, his MA degree from the University of North Carolina at Greensboro. 


He received the Presidential and Celebrity awards at the North Carolina Azalea Festival Master Arts Exhibit held in Wilmington, NC.  The Charlie Rose Show has featured his artwork, and it has been exhibited at the US Capitol Rotunda in Washington, D.C.,  He created the artwork for the First Annual North Carolina Blueberry Festival.


In 2005, Ivey Hayes was selected to create the art for the 2005 North Carolina Azalea Festival held annually in Wilmington, North Carolina.  A major one-man show, Five American Artists, featuring Hayes as well as Romare Bearden, Al Carter, Minnie Evans and Faith Ringgold was held at the Louise Wells Cameron Art Museum in Wilmington, NC, May 19-September 17, 2006.
