The Project

“You know how I paint?  It’s the spirit of God working through my finger tips.”    ~Ivey Hayes

One afternoon, I sat down and listened to Ivey Hayes tell his life story and the one thing he made plain to me was that he could not do anything without God.

Ivey Hayes is a seasoned painter who is coming to the end of his career.  He has touched many North Carolinians with his depiction of southern Black culture through his use of bold and vibrant colors.  His unique painting style has also portrayed music by bringing to life jazz, blues and gospel through visual arts.

This film will focus on the life of Ivey Hayes, in hopes to help leave his legacy on this earth.  For a man with only three bones in his fingers, it is living proof that God is working through him.
